This spreadsheet for Excel contains a BMI calculator that uses both the CDC and the NHANES II definitions for BMI. The chart shows your BMI on the spectrum based on the chosen formula and gender. This spreadsheet also contains a worksheet used to create the BMI charts listed above (using quite a few special tricks that may delight the Excel enthusiast).

Technically, both the CDC and NHANES II definitions use the same BMI formula. It's only the range of values for each category that is different.

The BMI Formula

BMI is defined as a person's weight divided by the square of a person's height, using the metric units kg/m^2.

• Metric Units: BMI = Weight[kg] / ( Height[m] x Height[m] )
• English Units: 703 x Weight[lb] / ( Height[in] x Height[in] )

BMI Chart for Children

BMI is calculated the same way for children as for adults, but the criteria for determining a 'normal' weight is different. Instead of specific BMI thresholds, a BMI percentile is used to compare to other children of the same age and gender. Just as there are Weight-for-Age, Height-for-Age, and Head Circumference-for-Age growth charts, there are also BMI-for-Age charts.

For children, the weight status category (underweight, healthy weight, overweight, and obese) is defined based on the BMI percentile (less than the 5th percentile, 5th to less than the 85th, 85th to less than the 95th, and equal to or greater than 95th, respectively). In Excel, you can use below formulas to convert pounds to ounces or grams or kg.

Convert between pounds and ounces

Select a blank cell next to your pounds data, and type this formula =CONVERT(A2,'lbm','ozm') into it, and press Enter key, then drag the autofill handle down to the range cells you need.

If you want to convert ounces to pounds, you can use this formula =CONVERT(A2,'ozm','lbm').

Convert between pounds and grams

Select a blank cell next to your pounds data, and type this formula =CONVERT(A2,'lbm','g') into it, and press Enter key, then drag the autofill handle down to the range cells you need.

If you want to convert grams to pounds, use this formula =CONVERT(A2,'g','lbm').

Convert between pounds to kg

Select a blank cell next to your pounds data, and type this formula =CONVERT(A2,'lbm','kg') into it, and press Enter key, then drag the autofill handle down to the range cells you need.

To convert kg to pounds, please use this formula =CONVERT(A2, 'kg','lbm').

Tip: In the above formulas, A2 is the cell you want to convert.

Quickly convert between multiple mass units with Unit Conversion utility

1. Select the data you want to convert, and click Kutools > Content > Unit Conversion. See screenshot:

2. In the Unit Conversion dialog, you just need to do these:

(1) Select Mass from the drop down list under Units section.

(2) Select the units you want to convert. For example, if you want to convert pounds to ounces, just select Pound (Avdp) from left list, and then select Ounce (Avdp) from right list. See screenshot:

Note: You can click the Swap Unit button to exchange the conversion units quickly.

Then click Ok or Apply, and you can see the converting results are shown in comments.

  I need to have Three items to be displayed on my sheet.
  900 GM(s) = 1 lbs/15.745 ozs
  but i can't ..I am using physical calculator to calculate both..and then use CONCATENATE to combine the statement.

      here is a simple way to do it though it shows pound and ounces it should still work
      To enter a value such as 1.14 and have it display as 1 lb. 14 oz. you can use a custom format.
      Righ click the cell, and from the drop down menu choose Format Cells
      On the Number tab select Custom Type: 0' lb'. 00' oz.'
